What is Blood

By definition, it is a fluid that passes through a circulatory system’s vessels. It involves plasma (the fluid part), blood cells (which come in both kinds of red and white), and cell fragments called platelets in humans. Also, We can treat it as a tissue that is essential to the survival of our body.

What is Blood Made Up of

It consists of solids and fluids. The liquid part is produced from water, salt, and protein, and it is referred to as plasma. Most of your blood is plasma. Especially, there are red cells, white cells, and platelets in the solid part of your blood.

Why is Blood So Important

We need it to keep us alive. This vital liquid fulfills the critical tasks of carrying oxygen and nutrients to all components of the body so that they can continue to function and eliminating carbon dioxide, ammonia, and other waste items.

It also takes hormones around the body and fights against infections. Not only that but also it plays a crucial role in our immune system and in keeping the body temperature to a constant level. There are four most essential parts of it. We can call these as Red cells, white cells, platelets, and plasma. Generally, these are common to all kinds of humans, no matter where they live.

What Are the 3 Types of Blood Cells?

Red Cells

Red blood cells or erythrocytes are specialized cells that circulate in the body and provide oxygen to the tissues. When it is mature, it does not contain mitochondria or nucleus. These features enable red cells to fulfill their job of transporting oxygen efficiently.

The small size and biconcave shape improves the surface-to-volume ratio, enhancing gas exchange, while the absence of a nucleus creates additional margin for hemoglobin, the main protein used in oxygen transport. The absence of mitochondria prevents red cells from using the oxygen they carry, thereby maximizing the amount provided to the body tissues.

White Cells

White cells are more significant compared to red cells. It has a normal nucleus and mitochondria, as opposed to red cells. Also, these are much less common than red cells. The job of white cells is to fight against invaders such as bacteria and viruses and neutralizing them.

We can see White cells in five major types.
Those are

  1. neutrophil
  2. eosinophils
  3. basophils
  4. monocytes
  5. lymphocytes

Platelet

The third type is the Platelets.

Those are tiny cells. However, It helps the body to create colts to stop bleeding. Having too many or too few platelets or platelets that are not working might cause issues. In this case, It may assist in diagnosing certain illnesses or circumstances by checking the number of platelets in the blood.

Blood Disorder

That means that some of the blood cells can’t do the work they’re intended to do correctly. We call this as a blood disorder. It can influence your overall health if something is wrong with your blood.
