Warning of hallucinations: Ropinirole can cause hallucinations (seeing or hearing that is not real). Gynecologists are at higher risk for these side effects. Tell your doctor immediately if you have hallucinations.

Coercive Behavior Warning: Ropinirole (Requip) causes a strong urge to gamble, spend money, or overeat. It can lead to increased sexual desire or other intense desires. You may not be able to control yourself. Tell your doctor quickly if you have any of these requests.

What is Ropinirole?

Ropinirole is a prescription drug. It comes in the form of instant release and long release tablets that you take orally. Long-acting drugs are slowly released into the bloodstream over time. Drugs that are released immediately become more active.

Ropinirole is available under the brand names Rickwip and Rickwip XL. It is also available as a conventional drug. In some cases, they are not available in all strengths or forms as a brand name drug. This Ropinirole drug can be used as part of combination therapy. It means that you should take it with other drugs.

Why use it

Ropinirole is used to treat some motion disorders. They include Parkinson’s disease. They also include moderate to severe restless legs syndrome.

How Ropinirole works

Drugs are a group of actions in a similar way. Ropinirole has an effect on your central nervous system as the natural chemical dopamine. The body needs dopamine to control movement. Dopamine-producing cells die with conditions such as Parkinson’s. Ropinirole works by acting in place the missing dopamine.
